of the American Society of Suicide Prevention; and JCC MetroWest

Location: JCC MetroWest, West Orange, NJ
	October 29, 8 am-1 pm

Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people ages 15-24.
For those who interact with teens, it is critically important that they be
aware of the warnings signs and become educated on how to intervene.

This half day conference, designed for Jewish clergy, religious educators,
youth leaders, and bereavement group facilitators, will provide crucial
education on suicide prevention and response. Led by Rabbi Rebecca Sirbu,
CLAL’s Co-Director of Rabbis Without Borders, an expert in
Jewish health and healing, the conference will educate participants to
identify risk factors and warning signs of suicide, how to talk to a young
person at risk, and how to offering spiritual counseling to families in the
	aftermath of suicide.

“Unfortunately, the Jewish community is not immune to the horror of
suicide,” said Rabbi Sirbu. “Our tradition teaches that we must do
everything in our power to help save a life. Therefore, anyone who interacts
with children and teenagers must learn the warning signs for depression and
suicide so that they can reach out to someone who may be struggling.”
